Isabel Quezon Sarmiento Traner Carr, Age :93

Jun 23,1924---Jan 09,2018

Isabel Quezon Sarmiento Traner Carr, beloved mother, left this earthly plane for another adventure on Tuesday, January 9. “Grammy” and “Kay” to many, Isabel to many more, lived an amazing life, with at least five different vocations throughout her 93 years. Her early years in Kansas City included work at Employer’s Reinsurance, restauranteur, secretary at Apache Elementary, Personnel Manager, Dit-Mco, owner of the Overland Park Secretarial Service, and insurance auditor for White & White which was acquired by Equifax. Isabel worked for Equifax well into her 80’s conducting audits in central Florida.

From 1974 until 2007 Isabel resided in Memphis, TN and attended the First Unity Church of Memphis where she taught Sunday school for many years. When the church relocated the new Sunday School building was named “Isabel’s House.” In 2007 Isabel moved to Brooksville, FL. There she became a member of the UU Church in the Pines. Isabel was a gifted story teller and wrote several books of poetry. A self-taught sculptor, piano player, dulcimer player, and organ player, she decided early in life that she could do anything she put her mind to. In addition to her incredible work ethic Isabel donated her time to causes she believed in, particularly alternative beliefs where she met many friends from around the world and beyond.

Isabel was preceded in death by husband David E. Carr, her parents, Luis Sarmiento and Elizabeth Jordan Mulkey. She is survived by her children, Ron Traner and Jim Stephens ; Janine Joslin; Dennis and Bonnie Traner; Grandchildren, Jaclyn Joslin, Aaron Joslin, Amanda and Luca Steiner; Christine Traner and Daniel Traner, Amy and Doug Kjellin and great grandchildren Erik Kjellin, Andrew Kjellin, Adam Kjellin and Lusia Joslin.
