OBITUARIES DETAIL

Robert A. `Bob` Baldwin, Age :85

Oct 07,1932---Apr 24,2018

Robert A. “Bob” Baldwin, 85, passed away April 24, 2018. Visitation and rosary will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 3rd at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64137. His funeral mass, also at the Church, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 4th with a lunch reception in St. Catherine’s Ruysser Hall to follow. Burial will take place with a procession to Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery following the luncheon for all who want to attend.

Bob was born October 7, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1949 and Kansas City, MO Junior College in 1951. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, served in the U.S. Army and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1957 from the University of Kansas City. Bob’s first job following graduation was at Hallmark Cards, where he met the love of his life, Mary Wagner, whom he married in 1959. Bob and Mary believed their greatest accomplishment was rearing six sons who are God-loving citizens and exemplify this, along with their loving wives, in raising their children and with consistent acts of charity toward their families and those less fortunate than they. They also believed their little saint in heaven, Mary Angela, helped to guide her brothers.

Throughout most of his career Bob was in records management sales, and in 1975 TAB Products Co. appointed him branch manager for Western Missouri and Eastern Kansas. He served in this capacity for 19 years. He was an ardent supporter of “Right to Life” causes, and as an active member of St. Catherine’s Church he served as an usher and lector at masses, and as a member of the Vocation Committee and “The Sounds of Siena” choir. He also volunteered with “Meals on Wheels” delivering lunches to those in need. Bob took much pleasure in his involvement with the activities of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, his monthly luncheons with the “Class of 49”, and “The Back Nine”, a breakfast/golf group of many close friends who have met weekly since 2002.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur B. Baldwin and Bryda Aylward Baldwin; infant daughter, Mary Angela; brother, Arthur B. Baldwin Jr.; and sister, Jeanne M. McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Mary; six sons and daughters-in-law: Bob Jr. (Pam); Jim (Tricia); Tom (Teresa); John (Lynn); Dan (Betsy); Ed (Stacey); nineteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and three more great-grandchildren soon to arrive.

Bob will be remembered by his family and multitude of good friends as the truest definition of a gentleman and a person of high moral character. He had an infectious smile and a wonderful sense of humor to the end. Even in his final days he would throw out favorite phrases such as “What a guy!” or “Even better!” If you knew him, he was a friend, and one that will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Catherine’s Church and Missouri Right to Life.
